The LGA (Local Government Association) of the United Kingdom has called for giving real and tough licensing powers to the local councils. This was done in order to help them protect their communities and business from the great influx in betting shops that are starting to spread all over the country. This organization represents well over 370 Welsh ad English councils.
The LGA of the United Kingdom also made it clear that they believe that the changes that happened to the development planning rules have made it quite easier for gambling firms to transform any existing buildings into gambling shops without having to acquire any planning permissions, which surely helped in increasing the number of betting shops exponentially.
